The Hidden Culprit in Roofing Systems

The selection of building materials is critical for the long-term protection of property assets. Roofing materials are no exception.

Advances in construction technology have yielded numerous options for industrial roofing applications. Standing seam metal, asphalt shingles, tar and gravel “built-up”, and TPO roofing types have proliferated in the industrial market for a long time. However, there is a hidden culprit in many of these common roofing types, the seam. Urethane roofing solves this problem.
Moisture from condensation, rain, fog, humidity or other climate conditions is the enemy of any building structure. In the residential market alone, insurance industry research has shown the annual cost to insurance companies from water damage and mold in the United States is $2.5 billion a year.

Roofing is the first line of defense against such moisture. When roofing fails, its damage often goes unnoticed until there is a visible drip or the presence of mold on a building exterior. Or, in many cases, the first sign of roofing compromise is a trail of ants or other insects that suddenly appear on a wall or ceiling. Especially in dry climates like Arizona, insects and rodents seek out moisture for survival. Wet roofing in heated conditions is a magnet for these invaders.

Industrial property owners cannot escape these hazardous conditions, no more than an owner of a luxury residence can.
The best defense against the invasion of moisture and its six-legged residents is to eliminate the culprit, the seam.
Seamless roofing substantially minimizes the likelihood of these disastrous conditions. Roofing materials that do not have lap seams, metal fasteners, and are not dependent on seamed underlayment for protection, give an owner more than a fighting chance.

Urethane roofing, because it is applied in a sprayed-on form, and not nailed on, rolled on, or assembled in panels, creates a roof that is seamless, smooth, and rugged. Urethane roofing protects the decking material beneath it from the accumulation of moisture, and the expense of replacing it. Moisture has no way of reaching this critical component of any roofing type when there is no seam for penetration.

Getting an excellent application of urethane roofing and the numerous types of coatings we offer assures owners they have invested wisely in their property.
